Strasser wins Solo Race Across America on S-Works Roubaix
The Race Across America (RAAM) is one of the most daunting bike races in the world. Starting on the West Coast of the U.S. and ending on the East Coast, RAAM covers more than 3000 miles across the Rockies, the American Heartland and the Appalachians.
Along the way, riders must overcome grueling terrain, unpredictable weather, and their own personal limitations – constantly reminding themselves what all riders in the RAAM know: “You sleep, you lose.”
Austrian Christoph Strasser won this epic race tonight on his S–Works Roubaix, with a time of 8 days, 8 hours and 6 minutes.
For Christoph, it’s undoubtedly one of the greatest achievements of his career. This victory is even sweeter considering that his last attempt in 2009 was hampered by severe lung problems that forced him out of contention.
Christoph has been supported by Specialized Europe B.V. for many years, through many victories. In 2007 he became the youngest Ultra Marathon World Champion ever at just 24 years old, and in 2010 he defended the title.
Now he can add “Race Across America Solo Champion” to his resume.
Congratulations, Christoph!!! And ride on!
